A Great Leader Is...

"I believe a great leader is someone who is not afraid to stand out, and who constantly challenges themselves and others to be better. Someone who has integrity, compassion for others and a passion for what they believe in. A great leader empowers others and wants to create other great leaders. A great leader believes in the importance of collaboration and teamwork to achieve the best result."

Apparently my impersonations are my cool factor. They seem to be a team favourite!

My most impactful leader(s) are my parents and both for very different reasons.  My dad took a chance on a start-up that had 3 employees, and left a very steady job after finishing his Ivey MBA.  That company eventually got acquired by a huge company. Seeing him go through the highs and lows, and scale his company, lit a fire under me.  My mom is a leader in her character, she will always stand for what she believes in and always encouraged me to be a leader and not a follower.  She also taught me the importance of work-life balance and I’ll always remember her telling me “you work to live, you don’t live to work so enjoy your successes".

If you had asked me this 2 years ago, my answer would be my Honours BA.  Today, I can say that my greatest achievement is exactly what I'm doing.  I have never felt so empowered and proud of myself.  I’ve gotten the chance to connect with the top leaders and companies, build and coach an amazing team that makes me feel inspired everyday and challenge myself like I’ve never been challenged before.

The student campaign in elementary school. I was voted President and I had to listen to the other students and work alongside the teachers to collaborate and make the school more enjoyable for students.

I believe some people born with instinctive leadership qualities. However, I do believe leaders can be built through mentorship of other leaders.

Recruitment isn’t something that I had specifically sought out, however, after learning more about the job and working on my first presentation for The Leadership Agency, I found I was passionate about this job and that I was interested in building a career in this field.

Most people don’t know that my first job was Tim Hortons. I was 16 years old, working drive thru every Saturday at 6 am. I was such a fashionista so wearing the uniform and visor was the worst part of the job.
